The Youth Mountain Bike Program gives new and young riders, ages 12-18, a set of skills that will make them competent and confident riders. The St. Catharines Cycling Club promotes this development by offering a series of structured lessons and on-trail riding experiences.
Typically, ride groups are formed based on the abilities of the individual – experienced, intermediate and beginner. There is also a dedicated group with more focus on skills development – riders in this group are generally new to the sport or lack the physical ability to ride for a sustained length of time. Individuals will be moved among groups as their skills and abilities improve.
The main goal of the Youth Mountain bike Programme is to make all riders better, and like any sport, the main way to accomplish that is through practice.
Club mountain bike riders frequently participate in local and other fun race events as well as compete more seriously in Ontario Cycling Association sanctioned races.
See the Club Calendar for ride schedule and check out the Volunteer page to see how you can support this programme.
