Wayne Vanderveldt returns to the Executive as Club Secretary again this year.

Wayne fell in love with the sport of cycling after watching the 1987 Paris Roubaix on CBS. He went out and bought his first road bike, a 1986 Falcon steel road bike with down-tube shifters & state of the art Bio-Pace chain-rings (remember those?) shortly there after.

Wayne attended his first SCCC Sunday morning ride in 1988 where he got to experience a group ride for the first time and the experience of being yelled at by Willie Coyle for the first (and not last) time. After racing junior & senior in the late ’80’s and early ’90’s Wayne stepped away from cycling to focus on school & work.

Twenty years and 40 pounds later Wayne decided to get back into cycling to get back to a healthy lifestyle and weight loss. A new job with evenings and weekends off meant Wayne could return to the club he always loved riding with.
