The SCCC boasts of being the home club of the legendary Steve Bauer. Steve is best known for his performance at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, where he won Canada’s first-ever medal in a men’s road race, capturing silver. As a pro, he won bronze at the 1984 world championships and silver in ’88 and also made 11 Tour de France appearances where he became the first Canadian to win a stage in 1988 and the famed Yellow Jersey. In 2005, Bauer was inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame, Canadian Sports Hall of Fame and a made a Lifetime Member of the SCCC.
