This ride leaves the Fryin’ Guys Fish and Chips on Lake St in St Catharines at 8:15. The ride is a loop from 80-100 km in length with short midpoint break at Tim Hortons in Smithville. This is a fast paced ride focusing on hill climbing along the Niagara Escarpment with a fast echelon approaching the midway stop. The intent of the ride is to supplement an individual training programme by providing the intensity that a group setting can facilitate.
En route, the ride passes through Jordan Village to quickly pick up other riders. If you choose to meet in Jordan, be there no later than 8:40am and be patient as the ride may not show up at exactly the same time each week (due to mechanicals, etc.).
At Smithville Tim Hortons it is not uncommon for the fast and moderate groups to join and form a paceline for the return trip to St. Catharines at a medium pace.
Rides leave from the Rockway Community Center on Pelham Rd at 9:00 (If driving please park away from the building to the East).
The “no drop” ride is a loop approximately 60 km in length with short midpoint break at Tim Hortons in Smithville, however the route and terrain varies according to ride leader. The intent of this moderate pace ride is to be “no-drop”, but riders are expected to have a level of fitness.
The second ride depending on turnout and skill levels, is longer (80 km and upwards) at a pace of 28km – 32km/hour plus, and the intent is to help riders develop their skill and fitness levels.
Riders are encouraged to learn skills and build fitness through these rides in a manner that will facilitate participation in other club activities and competition.
Riders under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a guardian.
